Los Angeles Mayor Antoino Vee fresh out of rehab for sexual addiction said that he has turned his life around and that he is going to make a new start as Mayor of Los Angeles. To show that he is sincere and means business he levied new taxes on people who are forced to drive in Los Angeles. He signed legislation that will raise parking tickets and cut the number of parking tickets before a boot is placed on a car. This is aside from Mayor Vee's current policy of handing out traffic and parking tickets like advertizing circulars.
THE DETROIT TIMES endorces this action because Mayor Vee is such a fuck-up and the city is broke becaue of Mayor Vee's poor management. The city spent over a billion dollars building a police headquarters it couldnt afford . The contractor for the project is a convicted felon who cheated the city during the building of the subway.
However the biggest reason the city is broke and has to extort money from motorists is because Mayor Vee gave carte blanche to the real estate developers who financed his poltical career and by letting them raid the cities pension fund. Many of these developers went bankrupt and couldnt pay back their loans to the pension fund so now the city has to make up the difference. All of this is happening during a very bad economy which makes things even worse. And because its difficult to raise taxes that are already sky high the finacial burden for bailing out Los Angeles will increasingly fall on anyone owning or driving a car. The city could lesson this burden on LA motorist if it went after the real estate developes who are still in business and who owe the city mega- millions.

The citizens of Los Angeles must demand that the city force Related Cos to pay the city the fines it owes it. But like the mayor the people have been neglegent. So the end result is Los Angeles motorists are going to continue to get beat up while developers like Realed Cos simply move on to the next town or project and skipping out without paying,which means someone has to make up the diffence. Obama has made many crucial mistakes in this area. One of the worst mistakes was going back on his campaign promise to tax wealthy corporations that do their manufacturing oversesas and then bring those product back into the United States without paying any tax. American companies who manufacture overseas should pay their tax just like everyone else does. Its unfair to the companies that have stayed in the U.S.
Another bad mistake was the way 50 billion dollars was thrown at Gm without ensuring that they had a management team that could run the company. And that is still the problem. A manager who has automobile experience should be running GM and not a telephone lineman. Phil Mertaugh is the best choice available even though he isnt well liked by the beaucrates who are still in power and have ruined the compapny.

DR.OBAMAS CRUCIAL MISTAKE THAT RUINED HIS PRESIDENCY

OBAMAS REIGN AS PRESIDENT WAS PERMANTLY RUINED FROM THE DAY HE TOOK OFFICE:
Obamas crucial error was in not concentrating on the economy from the very begining instead of straying off into other areas like health care and climate change. While they are important concerns job one should have been getting the economy back on course. The way he tried to reshape the automobile industry has hurt the economic future of this country.
Picking Steve Ratner a poltical fundraiser to be his main guy at supervising the industries recovery was a grave mistake and proably cost him a successful Presidency. General Motors is floundering from lack of leadership and wont make it.
Fixing General Motors was fixing the economy and rebuilding America's manufacturing base. And Obama screwed it up big time by picking a novice like Ratner to head the automobile task force. Its really Obamas fault that its taking so long for the industry to rebuild. Ratner had no talent or backgroung in that industry. Yes he has a hedge fund but its done very poorly. Ratner's primary talent is in raising money for politicans to run for office. And how that translated into having the knowledge to rebuild America's manufacting muscle is beyond the understanding of THE DETROIT TIMES.
SHOULD BERNACKE BE REAPPOINTED: Bernacke is a disiple of Milton Freidman an economist whose theories were never proven to be workable in the real world. We are now headed for a double dip depression with no end in sight and with things getting worse instead of better. Bernacke mistake was in not waiting for the economy to bottom out before sending in the troops. When Franklin Roosevelt took office and started rebuilding the economy had already bottomed out naturally. What Bernacke did was just postponed the inevitable which is a bad depression. What Obama should do now is follow Paul Volkers advice and bring Bill Clinton on as his top adviser.
A SIGN THINGS ARE GETTING WORSE: THE GOVERNMENT IS RUNNING OUT OF FINGERS AND TOES TO PLUG THE DAM:
The govenment is running out of money and cutting back on crucial programs. People in California and other hard hit states like Michigan are having trouble collecting unemployment benefits. The states ran out of money along time ago. It was the Federal government that was making up in the differnce in the hopes of jump starting the economy. The job situation is much worse then a year ago and the government is now cutting back. What does this mean? It could be a sign the government is starting to drive on an empty tank.

The Democrates are supposed to be looking out after the peoples interests and not the bankers. Yes he is a great salesman but he cant take the day to day grind of negoitaing and bargining with fellow poltical leaders. He dosent have the stomach to bend the metal and force others to accept his positions on key issues. So consequently he has become just a shill for his financial backers and has neglected the rest of Califonia. The result is a state that is basket case when is shouldnt be.
Who put Arnold in office? The voters of course picked him to run the states government. Why? He was the terminator. And basically thats it.
This type of thing is continously being done across the country and the quality of government is showing it. The people in this country need a different type of poltical system. Because this one just isn't working.

THE NEW YORK TIMES is starting to develop a paper designed for the internet. Many thought the regular print addition would be that paper. But is hasnt worked out that way. Printed editions placed on the internet just havent worked out and is one of the reasons the newspaper industry is having so much trouble. The Times has started putting high quality photographs in its daily internet editions and its a successful feature. They are high quality photographs of important news stories. Its very well done and are the begining steps of a newspaper desighed soley for the internet.

CHANGE AND A RECOVERY MUST START WITH THE INDIVIDUAL CITIZEN

AND SO FAR NOT MUCH HAS CHANGED: People want change but wont invest in making it happen. They dont pay attention to government. And they are supposed to own it. And the government does belong to the people. But if the people dont care and are neglegent in overseeing their government then you get the kind of mess this country is in right now. The truth is people pay more attention to sports or other entertainment then their own government. So if government dosent work then whose fault is it? The people running it or the people who the government belongs to.
In Detroit which is been plagued by mass corruption the newly elected city counsel and mayor paid homage to Detroit's mafia boss Mike Illich before they took office.
Detroit now has become a fudel society with the mafia bosses as the leaders and the average citizen the surfs. How did this happen? People neglected their government and had little if any interest in poltics. The Mafia stepped in and took over. They did well but the city in now unlivable.
Casino gambling has been a boon to the mafia even though its destroyed Detroit. But the people like it and follow the lead of the Mafia bosses. Illich has brought winning hockey and baseball to Detroit and thats what matters most to the citizens of Detroit. People have lost their jobs and houses but they have winning sports teams and that is what they respect.
Until things change with the average person this country has a bleak future. Change must start with the individual citizen then everything else will follow. The people must lead and the politicians will follow.

Fox News in collusion with the Bush administration sold the Iraq war to a gullable American public. And if that collusion can be proven in a court of law then Fox News and Ruppert Murdock must be disabled and closed. The Unites States is fighting a major war in Afganistan. And China stands to benefit a great deal from it. It was reported in last Saturdays New York Times that China is minning for copper in Afganistan in a big way.
China also stands to benefit from the Iraqi war after the U.S. has spent tillions fighting this protracted war. China just won a big oil drilling contract from the Iraqi government.
It seems like the U.S. has leased its Armed forces to China.
The big U.S. companies view China as the market of the future. They view it potentially as the new market basket of the world where it wont have to rely on exports to support its economy. And they want a big piece of the action. So they allow American armed forces to be used to help China secure new sources of commodities for their industries.
The President's hands are tied. Obama a nice guy but is helpless in stopping this situation. These corporations are the ones that stole the nomination for him and financed his campaign. So once again the American people get cheated because the U.S. has nothing to gain from this arrangement. The big corporations are using American military might to buy their way into China's red hot markets at the expense of the American people. Nice work if you can get it.

WHY THERE IS A TERROISM PROBLEM

GEORGE BUSH'S FAILED FOREIGN POLICY IS THE CAUSE OF TERROISM IN THE U.S.
George Bush should have invaded Saudi Arabia and seized their oil fields in retailation for the 9-11 attack on New York city. There isnt any question that the Saudis fianced the attack and yet the mighty U.S. never fought back. DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE ? It dosen't make sense. And now the resurgent Al-Queda financed with Saudi money is again attacking where ever it can.
The Saudis arent the victims of Al-Queda as they claim but the backers of it. The bank where Al-Quedia hides its vast wealth is Saudia Arabia's biggest financial institution.
The other source of terroism is Iran and the Obama administration sits back and appeases the country. Obama has taken no forcful action to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear problem. Obama backed by big oil maybe one of the weakest Presidents this country has ever had.
The American oil companies are as big a danger to the U.S. as Iran's mullahs. And it looks like the two are close friends and that maybe the reason why nothing has been done to stop a terriosm state like Iran from going nuclear.
