SHOULD PLAYA VISTA BE EXPANDED

ALTHOUGH PLAYA VISTA IS A WELL PLANNED COMMUNITY AND AN EXAMPLE OF QUALITY ARCHITECTURE IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN BUILT:
Steve Soboroff Playa Vista's developer deserves a lot of credit for keeping his promise and building an attractive development. It is a well planned community and very appealing to the eye. People who live in Playa Vista enjoy living there. And yet it was a mistake to build it and an even bigger mistake to expand Playa Vista by developinig the wetlands that surrounds it.
The wetlands it was built on are needed more then ever in combating the drought conditions that currently exist in Los Angeles County and the rest of the southwest. Unfortunaltly much of the wetlands in the area are now gone and have been replaced with condos and appartments.
Many of those condos were purchaseed at the peak of the real estate market in California and have lost a lot of their market value. Since there isnt much of a market for residential real estate many of the units sit empty because its also difficult to rent them since their rents have been kept higher then what the market will bear.
So economically and enviromentally it dosent make sense to develop the land surrounding Playa Vista.
P.S. The Los Angeles City Counsel approved Soboroff's plan to develop the remaining wetlands. The City Counsel like most politicians in Los Angeles are owned and controlled by the real estate developers. And that is why the quality of life is declining so quickley in the L.A. area. Crime and taxes are up while wages and jobs are declining.
