Carlo Gambino who helped Lansky was rewarded with his own crime family.
2.Lucky Luciano was Lansky's childhood friend and main business partner when Lansky had him poisoned for trying to make a movie about his life which would have naturally featured Lansky
3.Bugsey Siegal a close friend and early partner of Lansky was killed for squandering the money Lansky gave him to build the Flamingo. Jimmy the Weasel said in his autobiography that Lansky ordered Siegals murder for embezzling the Flamingo money.
4.Albert Anatessia (The Mad Hatter) was killed by Lansky for demanding a piece Lansky's Cuba empire and ordering the hit of a civilian who had informed on Willie Sutton.

Mike Ilitch who owns the Tigers and is also a casino owner has brought winning baseball to depression raveged Detroit which is important to many metro citizens in this period of glume. Yes the city dosent have the money to provide even the most basic city services but thats secondary to baseball and casinos in metro Detroit.
So Mayor Bing a weak mayor with very little charisma wouldnt find much support for making the casino owners pay more tax.

Jerry Brown will not try and stop a bad piece of legisation from becoming law by vetoing it because the people who finaced his campaign are the backers it. AEG led by Phil Anschultz and the construction unions who put Jerry Brown in office want AB900 passed.
Although its a bad piece of legislation and will hurt Los Angeles Brown will proably sign it into law and thus doing the exact same thing that he has accused the Republicans of doing which is looking out for campaign backers over the public good.

Dwight Eisenhower one the main architects of the allies victory over Germany made an agreement with the Soviets during the begining oh his Presidency that he wouldnt order a military build up if they didn't.
Eisenhower wanted proof that the Russians were keeping their part of the agreement. So he had U2 spy planes fly over Russia taking pictures of their military activity and instalations. One of the pilots Gary Francis Powers was shot down by the Russians. But the U2 flights showed that the Soviets were keeping their part of the bargain.
Eisenhower who created the modern military machine then warned of the danger of the military industrial complex. He could see that they were pushing for a military buidup when one wasnt called for.
Dutch Reagans military build up against the Soviets was a one sided race. While the U.S was spending trillions on Star Wars the Russians stayed on the sidelines.
