THE DETROIT NEWS HAS PLAYED A MAJOR ROLE IN DETROIT'S DEMISE:
Every news gathering entity that earns revenue from advertising walks a fine line between what the advertizers want in the paper and what is in the public interest. The Detroit News almost always has taken the advertizers side over the public good.
They acted like a public relations machine for the mafia in molding public opinion in support of casino gambling. Through out the years they ignored mafia influnced in public government and have always taken the side of big busniess even if it meant the city took a bath.
Because of that the Detroit News has gone from being one of the richest newspapers in America to being a part-time newspaper with a bleak future. The News' fortunes have fallen along with its core base of readership which is the city.
The newspaper strike in 1995 which hurt both the city and the newspaper was initated by News management to break the unions even though the paper was profitable. The strike weakened an already weak local economy by hurting what was left of an already diminishing retailing industry.
The News recently wrote an unflattering article about the chairmen of Crosswinds Communities a local builder. Crosswinds for almost 50 years has built high quality homes that people profited financially from and raised their families in. But like most Detroit area businesses Crosswinds was a victim of the bad economy. The News critized its Chairmen for losing a good part of his fortune and being close to bankuptcy.
Ironically a short time after this attack article on Crosswinds the company that owns the Detroit News entered Chapter 11.
The News for many years has had trouble accuratley and fairly reporting the news. They favored Mafia figures like Mike Illich at the expense of the city. And now like the city they are about to not only go bankrupt but cease to exist.
A new start for the Detroit News would be taking a poll about how Detroiters feel about casino gambling. An experiment that has almost destroyed what was left of Detroit.

The reason why America is failing so badly is in scripture. The bible clearly states dont throw pearls at swine. The American people did just that when they elected George Bush.
