OIL WASNT SUPPOSED TO GO UP

THE URGENCY TO FIND ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES HAS RUN OUT OF GAS:
The Dr. Obama administration was supposed to be developing alternative energy sources for fossil fuels and now it seems they forget all about it. WHATS HAPPENING? If the economy improves or there is a threat of war in the middle east or both prices will again go back to the $140 range.
There are plenty of excellent alternatives for oil and yet the big push by Dr.Obama to find these sources is gone. WHY? Oil is still being forced down our throats as the only viable energy source. And if that continues Oil will go much higher. After all the AMERICAN OIL MULLAHS contibuted a boat load of money to Dr.Obama's campaign and yes they have a right to get a return on their investment. So expect higher oil prices.
IRAN:
If Iran develops nuclear weapons capablity it will be a severe physcologial blow to the Dr.Obama administration. Dr.Obama should have attacked Iran's mullahs earlier in the year when the people were fighting for change in Iran. Now the government is back in control after killing or imprisoning all the protesters.

THE ECONOMY

ARE THINGS GETTING BETTER? IS THERE REALLY IMPROVEMENT IN THE ECONOMY?
Reading some of the news reports out of Bloomberg and other business publication you would get the impresson prosperity was just around the corner. The question is where is this improved economy going to come from?
Fords the only thing left of this countries automobile industry wants to get rid of 40000 jobs. That dosent sound like prosperity. Gm is still showing no life signs. And unemployment levels havent receded at all.
America's manufacturing base is gone and not much is being done to bring it back. The only thing the economy has going for it right now is all the wars the United States has entered. Its almost like the U.S. is a contestent in some kind of war sweepstakes. So far the U.S. has been unlucky and hasnt won anything. If it wasnt for that the U.S. could be in real trouble like a depression. So be thankful for the little things like the wars in Afganistan and Pakistan.
WHATS GOING ON AT GM? Ed Whitacre is a hard acorn to crack. Its to figure out what he is trying to do with the company. It seems like he is building a house from the top down starting with the roof.
He is changing the marketing and sales departments at Gm without first having a product. That may be the way its done in the telephone business but it wont work in the automobile industry. First you have to have a product which has been Gm's problem all along. Shitty cars put Gm where it is today. Ed you have to start with a foundation which in Gm's case is creating cars that people want to buy. Ed forget the phone business and start thinking cars.

LOS ANGELES:A CUT BACK IN CITY SERVICES WAS INEVITABLE

AND THE BLAME FALLS RIGHT AT THE FEET OF MAYOR VEE:
Mayor Vee owned, bought and paid for by the special interest groups has spent the cities money on things that benefited his campign contributors instead of the city. Smart move on Mayor Vee's part. Screw the votes and take care of the people who really put you in office. And consequently the city now has to make big cuts in services.
The city really couldnt afford a new police headquarters and yet the city spent almost a billion dollars to build a new one. The police department will have to lay off officers to help pay for this building. The contractor who built it was a convicted felon. Convicted of stealing from the city while he worked on the subway.
But by far the biggest waste that will cost the city billions was giving the Real Estate developers carte blanche to the employee pension fund. They cant pay back their loans with the collapse in real estate so the general fund will make up the diffence. That is the same place that pays for city services.
These same construction contractors and developers who installed Mayor Vee are now backing Jerry Brown for governor of California. The kicked San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom out of the governors race. But how can there be a Democracy if good candidates like Gavin Newsom are forced out of the race?
Gerry Brown will now be the only candidate in the democratic primary who has name recognation. And that is unfair. So watch out for more prisons less money for education

LOS ANGELES FINANCIAL TROUBLES WILL ONLY GET WORSE

THE CORRUPT MAYOR VEE HAS RUINED LOS ANGELES: Mayor Vee controlled by the big real estate developers gave them full axcess to the cities employee pension fund. They borrowed and borrowed and guess what? Because they defaulted on their loans the city now has to pay back the money from the general fund. So Mayor Vee under the circumstances had done the only thing he could do and that is raise taxes and cut back on city services. We predicted as much a long time ago.
THE SAME SPECIAL INTEREST GOUPS THAT BACKED MAYOR VEE ARE NOW PUSHING GERRY BROWN'S campaign for governor:
The have forced Gavin Newsom out of the Democratic primaries. The Democratic primaries must be boycotted unless Newsom is a candidate and allowed to run.

Brown backed to the hilt by the construction contractors and real estate developers will likely be the next governor of California. And those that held up signs saying NO 1 IN PRISIONS AND 48TH IN EDUCATION will work on Brown's campaign. The fact that Brown is backed by the special interest groups that put prisons first and education last is completely lost on those people and most of the voters in California. Its called the Streisand Syndrome.
THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX SPENDS THIS COUNTRY WEALTH ON BULLSHIT:
Is it any wonder that that the United States cant fight a war when its spends trillions on stupid ass projects dreamed up by so called military planners that dont work. It was reported that the Drones over Iraq are broadcasting their sensitive survliance information backed to Iraqi insurgents. Just the way its supposed to be.
WHAT GM'S NEW CHAIRMAN HAS DONE SO FAR IS DISSAPPOINTING:
Ed Whitacre certainly an able and talented business executive has none the less done a very poor job of trying to get the company going again. Most of his emphasis seems to be on marketing and sales. That is ok but first you have to have a product. And Gm is very weak in product development. And this is where his lack of experience shows up.
There has never been a successful car developed from the marketing department going out and asking people what kind of car would they like. But yet that is what Ed is trying to do. And it wont work. Ed for the good of the company and the governments $50 billion quickley appointment and automobile man to run the company.

THERE ARE SOME GOOD THINGS THE PRESIDENT HAS DONE
FOREIGN POLICY: Obama removed the road blocks that kept Russia from cooperating in stopping Iran's nuclear program. When Obama scrapped the proposed U.S. missle shield over the middleast and parts of Europe Russia began helping in the effort to curtail Iran's nuclear program. Its in Russias own self interest to help because Putin knows its just a question of time before Iran starts aiding the Moslem and Chechen insurgents now operating in Russia. Its in Putins best interest to keep Iran nuclear free now because Obama halted George Bush's wastful missle shield he can and will help.
ELECTRIC CARS SOME DAY SOON WILL RULE THE WORLD:
That is if the oil and car companies dont block it. To ensure the growth in the electrical industry Obama is providing seed money to small electic car companies. This is smart just in case a little competition is needed to prod the big auto companies along into making electrical cars.
GEORGE BUSH AGAIN:Its scary to thing that 44% of the electorate would prefer George Bush a cold blooded killer and the cause of the econmic collapse plaguing this country to Obama.
Obama while a weak leader is a big improvement over George Bush. The American people must do a better job when voting and picking poltical leaders. Is the United States a nation of potlickers or hard working Americans? Its hard to say.

GM'S CHAIRMEN EDWARD WHITACRE IS LOST AND A WASTE OF TIME

WHITACRE LOOKS LIKE A DESPERATE MAN MAKING CHANGES FOR THE SAKE OF MAKING CHANGES WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING WHAT HE IS CHANGING:
What he has done so far is very dissappointing. Yes Freddie Henderson had to be dumped. Henderson's results running the company were very bad. And yet Whitacre has replaced him with an excutive just like Henderson. A Gm bureaucrate and an unaccomplished paper shuffler. None of the excutives(bureaucrates) Whitacre promoted has ever shown any success in their previous jobs. If they had done a good job in the first place Gm wouldnt have gone bankrupt. But Gm did go bankrupt and its still struggling to find its footing.
Why dosent Whitacre pick successful excutives? Phil Mertaugh is credited by everyone for the success Gm has had in China and yet he has been completely overlooked for a top excutive position at Gm. Does that make sense? Why was he fired in the first place? Gm never gave an explanation for Mertaughs termination even though he produced some great results. It was heard through the grapevine that Mertaugh was fired because Butch Wagoner the man most responsibe for Gm's bankruptcy was jealous of his success. The way Butch ran things that explanation wouldnt be far off the mark.
Unfortunatly the Butch Wagoner way of picking excutives is still alive and well at the New Gm. Its not what you know but who you know that gets you a promotion at Gm. Take care of your boss and he will take care of you.
Mark Reuss the new president of the new Gm is the son of Loyld Reuss a former excutive at the old Gm. Mr. Ruess the younger has never shown any promise as an excutive. He was the creator of the Pontiac Ardvark the uglyest vechicle ever built by an automobile company.
Gm must appoint comptent excutives if its to survive and so far Whitacre's has fallen far short of the mark.
THE DETROIT TIMES STOCK RECCOMDENATIONS: For the first time in over a year we are going to take a loss on one of our picks. Get out of ATK. Buy back your shares. It was a short sale that didnt work.

WHAT IS NEXT FOR GM

GM'S BOARD MADE THE RIGHT DECISION IN DUMPING HENDERSON: Henderson was the wrong pick from the very begining of the New Gm. The key to Gm's future now will be determined by how much cash it has. The government may have poured $50 billion into the company but that isnt its current cash position. It proably has used up a lot of money during the last year. If Gm has more then 25 billion in the vaults then it still has time to turn things around. But if it has less then 15 billion in cash then it proably will have to merge.
A Chrysler Gm merger is a possiblity with the current Chairmen of Chrysler running the whole thing. He turned Fiat around. So he understands the car business.
The best scenerio for Gm is that they can stay an independent company without a merger and pick a leader who knows how to create product like Phil Murtaugh. But that takes a lot of money and time. Creating and developing new product is costly. The question now is does Gm have the money to do it.
